As the title says, is something rolling up behind the scenes, guys? The meeting outlined some really great updates, so we’re hyped up to see them soon
Hello Isvaljek
I’m also very interested in the new Skylark 1.0 update. Looking forward to exploring its enhancements and seeing how it improves our workflow.
Hi Thomas - and everyone else who is wondering about v1!
We have been working behind the scenes on the updates to the library and have also been changing how we carry out the updates. As the library has grown, managing the modelling by hand has become unfeasible due the large number of blocks. So we decided to take a step back and are currently developing a series of parametric scripts in Grasshopper to manage the creation of the blocks. This will make the workload for this (and future releases) much lighter.
To give you a bit more information…
Every WikiHouse block is made of a repeatable pattern of geometry components, that we call “bits”. We are trying to take advantage of this to have the blocks automatically generated once the bits are specified. The challenge is that blocks need to be compatible with each other: meaning the ROOF needs to be compatible with the gable WALLS. We are trying to work on the right logic to make this interoperability work.
Thanks for bearing with us as we figure all this out - as soon as we have a date for the release you will be the first to know.
Hi Mel,
Thank you for the update and for sharing the details on the progress with v1. It’s great to hear about the shift towards parametric—great move considering the scale of the library and future possibilities
Looking forward to hearing more as things progress!
Best regards,
Thomas
hi Mel, is there any adjusted time frame for this up grade?
