Welcome to the community. It’s quite normal in US to build with timber in various climate zones.
I would say definitely reach out to professionals in the field.
I would look into following principles of building house almost in any climate zone.
- Ensure four control layers are managed well. Starts from Water, Air, Vapour and Thermal ensure your priority is in the same order.
Have large overhang if possible. Water and heat management
Place window strategically. Again some solar modelling should help here
Use insulation has large increment delay like wood fibre. Thermal modelling would help here.
