Would love to start a discussion on the feeds and speeds everyone is using on their CNC to cut out Wikihouse blocks!
This is our Blue Elephant setup at the moment, we are testing different feed rates.
End mill : 8mm up/down compression end mill
Spindle speed : 18000 rpm (current max, considering upgrading to 24000rpm spindle)
Passes : Single pass
Feed rate : 3000mm/min.

Hello Lachlan,
Sorry I’m quite new in the CNC industry but it seems 18 000 rpm is too fast for a feed rate of 3000mm/min… do you made test with different speed?
I plan to build my first module any time soon so I would love to hear from you about milling specs…
Hi Chris,
We’ve since updated our CNC settings:
Spindle Speed: 15000 RPM
Surface Speed: 376.991 m/min
Cutting Feedrate: 12400 mm/min

Hello Lachlan,
Thank you for the feedback. Is there a discussion somewhere else about settings or am I the first to ask?
Hi Chris - I think the first to ask! Most machine setups are different enough that everyone has their own needs.

Yes I guess everyone have to try and improve because of the setup… What machine are you using?

Sounds pretty nice. What is exactly your loading unloading table?
My setup looks a bit like this:
Scissor table to lift a stack of plywood (can handle 25 sheets if on ground, 50 if placed in a pre-made hole), and a conveyor table to remove panels after they are cut.
Suction cup system to pull sheets from the scissor table, then pins and positioning rams to force the panel into position.
Vacuum table for hold down.
