Hello there,
Just an idea, but could it be possible to use some kind of wedge by inserting it from the top? Maybe some kind of wooden door wedge?
Hi Nick! Giving this a go now - it’s a really good idea, it works well on about 40% of the floor pieces.
The main issue we are experiencing is that the some of the floors the are being hammered flexing too much when installing; they absorbs all the energy from the hammer+wedge combo away from the bowtie.
Hi there Lachlan,
Great to hear that you tried the solution! I will try to assemble this setup in about a few weeks, but until then maybe a possible solution could be to drive screws into the bowties and try hammering the screws on the head? Don’t really know if the screws will damage the bowties or not.
How much floor blocks did you assemble in the situation photographed above? On which positions is there flex exactly?
Hi Nick,
It was 10 floor blocks on a 4.2m wide build. There was flex on the floor piece that connects to the walls as it is doesn’t have any bracing horizontally - we are considering adding blocking to sections like that to reduce flex in future builds.
We also tended to get flex on any pieces above windows and doors as it was such a small piece of wood and again, didn’t have a lot of bracing horizontally.
