Where have all the forward thinking Structural Engineers gone?

Hi everyone,

I’m am having no joy whatsoever finding a structural engineer to assist me with the design/calcs for my design. “Why don’t you just use brick and block?” Does anybody have any recommendations for a structural engineer? I’m based on the Wirral, UK.

Many thanks
Darren

Hi Darren,

Links sent by Mel are great.

I can feel your frustration. For structural engineer to size up your project, you may need extra information in terms of shape, size, location, ground soil type and more importantly budget.

Who is doing your design? Do you have a SketchUp model?

Edit: just seen you welcome message and checked out your website. It’s great by the way. You will find it right at home with wikihouse files.

In our experience, structural engineer might not give you the solution on how to do it but they are more like whether your design has a weakness or not. If so they will fix it.

Thanks,

Piyush

This is brilliant, many many thanks.
